The Slishman Traction Splint Compact (STS-C) weighs 13 ounces and is 13 inches packed. This splint is one of the lightest and smallest traction splints on the market. A compact traction splint was needed for situations where medical devices and treatment tools need to be packed into remote or difficult locations. Well suited for search and rescue, military medics, special operations, or anyone trying to minimize weight pack space. This model offers a mechanical advantage via the internal pulley, this pulley helps apply femoral traction accurately.

The distal hitch on the STS-C is applied just proximal to the calf or patella. Coarse positioning is accomplished using a spring button to extend and lock the outer tube. Fine traction is accomplished by pulling on the cord, followed by locking with a downward pull into the V-notch. Because you control all traction at the hip, you can easily make adjustments as conditions change or in route to the hospital.
